Hakodate Airport Welcomes “HAKODATE GOURMET PORT”: A Culinary Gateway to Southern Hokkaido
Prepare yourselves, food lovers! On August 5, 2025, Hakodate Airport will unveil its first-ever food court, HAKODATE GOURMET PORT.

This exciting new development, located on the 3rd floor of the domestic terminal, marks a significant milestone for Hokkaido Airports Co., Ltd. In fact, it’s the first food court since the airport opened in 1961.
Ultimately, it promises a vibrant culinary showcase, highlighting the best of Hakodate and Southern Hokkaido‘s food scene to visitors from across Japan and around the world.
Grand Opening Festivities and Special Guests
The grand opening on August 5th will be a momentous occasion. A special ceremony will welcome distinguished guests, including Hakodate Mayor Jun Oizumi and renowned talent and actor Masahiro Matsuoka.
However, before the official launch, local residents can get an exclusive sneak peek! A pre-opening event is scheduled for August 4th.
This event offers the first 200 applicants a chance to experience the food court ahead of time. Therefore, it’s a fantastic opportunity for the community to be among the first to explore this new culinary hub.
A Taste of Southern Hokkaido: Featured Establishments

HAKODATE GOURMET PORT aims to be a “food showcase” that gathers and promotes the “radiance of the region.” Specifically, it will feature five unique establishments, including one making its debut in Southern Hokkaido.
Among the highlights is méli mélo軒 (méli mélo Ken), a curry restaurant. A Michelin-starred chef from Hakodate, known for his popular creative cuisine restaurant “méli mélo” in Sapporo, produces this establishment.
Additionally, “Matsu Kasa,” a celebrated ramen shop from Nanae Town, and “Hikoma Pork KITCHEN,” a Hakodate-first establishment specializing in high-quality SPF pork dishes raised at the Donan Agro Farm in Mori Town, also join the lineup.
These carefully selected eateries will offer a diverse range of local ingredients and specialty menus, consequently, ensuring a delicious and enjoyable experience for all airport users.
Plan Your Visit
HAKODATE GOURMET PORT will operate daily from 10:00 AM to 7:30 PM (last order at 7:00 PM).
The spacious food court boasts approximately 647 square meters (196 tsubo) and offers 246 seats. Notably, this significantly increases seating from the previous 161 seats, ensuring ample space for diners.
The food court’s design beautifully blends retro-modern aesthetics with the charm of Hakodate. For example, it draws inspiration from the city’s history as Japan’s first international trade port and a cosmopolitan city with exotic Western-style buildings.
This summer, Hakodate Airport is truly leveling up, so make sure to include a visit to HAKODATE GOURMET PORT on your travel itinerary!
