Finally, it’s happening!

The Japanese government announced today they will resume the application of visa exemption. The first step to open up the border was back in June. Read the article:

They will not require a person in charge of acceptance located in Japan to apply for foreign visitor’s Entrants, Returnees Follow-up System (ERFS) as of October 11. They will also lift tour package rule to limit the entry.

Vaccine proof for entry

Except for returnees and immigrants who have symptoms of Covid-19, visitors won’t need PCR test at the time of arrival nor quarantine. Also they can take public transportations.

However, they need to submit either a vaccination proof (3 times) listed in the World Health Organization (WHO) emergency use list or a negative test certificate received within 72 hours before departure.

No total entry limit

Japan will not set an upper limit on the total number of people entering the country, which is currently targeted at 50,000 people per day.
