Exhibition of Original Illustrations by Studio Ghibli Katsuya Kondo Starts on March 13
KADOKAWA Co., Ltd. will start an exhibition of original cover illustrations by Studio Ghibli, Katsuya Kondo, at “Da Vinci Store” in “Tokorozawa Sakura Town” to celebrate the release of the Kadokawa Manga Learning Series “History of the World” (20 volumes).
Who is Katsuya Kondo?
Katsuya Kondo is one of the leading animators of Studio Ghibli. He was responsible for character design for the animated movie “Kiki’s Delivery Service” and participated in most of Ghibli’s works. He drew the cover illustration for the 15th volume of the Kadokawa Manga learning series “History of Japan” and all volumes of “History of the World”.
When is the exhibition?
All 20 original cover illustrations drawn by Katsuya Kondo will be exhibited in Da Vinci Store”. Just by looking at the beautiful illustrations, you can feel the atmosphere and drama of each era.
The event will go on 2 times, from March 13 through 19 and April 12 through May 31.
There are more to come
Furthermore, they will also showcase colored paper with illustrations drawn by Katsuya Kondo and colored paper with a message from series recommender Hikaru Suzuki.
Mr. Kondo drew a color illustration of “Maria Teresia” that appears in the cover illustration of Volume 8 of “History of the World”.
Mr. Hikaru Suzuki gave a message to children who have read “History of the World” and are about to study.
Kadokawa Manga Learning Series “History of the World” (20 volumes) was released on February 25, 2021. They a pre-release reprint due to a large number of pre-orders.
