Additive-free fluffy Hokkaido Hotcake Tsubaki Salon Ginza is now offerering “Hokkaido Hotcake Baked Apple” for a limited time through the end of December. The hotcake comes with a topping confiture(jam) of Kogyoku apples slowly cooked in beet sugar.

Tsubaki Salon uses only the finest additive-free ingredients including wheat, eggs, beet sugar, and salt grown in the vast land of Hokkaido.

This limited-time dish is an additive-free fluffy hot cake topped with confiture made from ruby apples slowly simmered in beet sugar. You can enjoy the deliciousness of the exquisite balance of Hokkaido fresh cream and honey lemon sauce.

The Earl Gray milk tea pudding which comes with the hotcake has a topping ruby apples baked with Hokkaido butter, crushed cookies, and Hokkaido milk gelato.

If you’d like to try, go early as it’s available in limited quantities. And for those who travel to Hokkaido, this hotcake is also available at their Akarenga Terrace in Hokkaido.

By the way, hotcakes are considered as a part of pancake family. In Japan, hotcakes became popular in Showa era when Kissaten (cafe) was one of those “cool” place to hang out for coffee and sweets. They served hotcakes.
