Tokyu Plaza Harajuku “Harakado” to Open on April 17 !
Japan’s large real estate company Tokyu Real Estate announced the opening of “Harakado” in Tokyu Plaza Harajuku on April 17, 2024. This new “creative facility” aims to offer unique experiential values that go beyond traditional commercial spaces. This reflects the historical significance of the Harajuku and Jingumae area and the current era where anyone can express themselves through social media.
Innovative Experiential Media Beyond Pop-Ups and OOH:
- 7th Floor Rooftop Terrace: An experiential media platform set against the backdrop of the prominent Jingumae intersection. From April 18 to 21, 2024, Bacardi Japan will host a premium event for the whiskey brand Dewar’s, featuring AR content that stimulates curiosity and discovery.
- 2nd Floor “COVER”: A real-life media experience linked with various magazine pages, located in front of the Jingumae intersection. Asahi Shimbun Publications will host an exhibition from April 18 to 23, 2024, showcasing the process of magazine production and the history of the weekly magazine “AERA.”
Unique Experiences at “Chikaichi” Underground Floor:
- “Chikaichi”: A new experiential media that allows visitors to enjoy Japan’s unique after-bath culture. In collaboration with Kao Corporation, the space offers experiences related to cleanliness and purity, reflecting the essence of Kao’s long-standing product, “Kao Soap.”
Harakado’s Full-Venue Takeover with Kao’s New Haircare Brand:
- Kao will launch a full-venue promotional event for its new haircare brand “melt” from April 27 to May 6, 2024. The event will offer immersive experiences that engage various senses, including sound, bubbles, touch, and scent, across different floors of Harakado.
Collaborative Event Content with Creators Symbolizing “Harakado”:
- A short film produced in collaboration with various creators, including the music unit “Wednesday Campanella,” will be released on Harakado’s opening day. The film features the song “Shitenno” and showcases the cultural mix that Harakado brings to life.
Cultural Crossings at “Harappa” on the 4th Floor:
- “NATURE CROSSING GALLERY” is a new “crosswalk” in Harajuku where the bustling city meets serene nature. In collaboration with HYTEK, the first installment features immersive content themed around Palau, inviting pedestrians into beautiful natural landscapes.
Art Exhibition on the 6th Floor:
- As part of a cultural promotion with Shibuya Ward, Taro Okamoto’s painting “Dream” will be displayed on the 6th floor. The painting, created in 1961 for the founding family of the long-established French confectionery Colombin, has been donated to Shibuya Ward and will be exhibited in Harakado.
Retail Shops
Retail shops are located from 1st through 3rd floors. There are so many unique stores including apparel, accessories, CBD, cafes and much more!
Harakado is set to become a landmark destination where visitors can immerse themselves in a blend of culture, art, and experiential events, all while enjoying the essence of Harajuku’s vibrant history and contemporary creativity.
