Representing a collaboration between JR Chuo Line Community Design and the local community, this establishment embodies a commitment to “Social Good Living,” harmonizing the Earth, the community, and personal well-being. As the doors swing open, a series of celebratory events will unfold, engaging locals and visitors alike in a vibrant tapestry of culture, sustainability, and commerce.

Sustainable Innovation in Architecture

At the heart of nonowa Kunitachi SOUTH lies a groundbreaking initiative: it’s JR East Group’s first venture into wooden commercial infrastructure. Leveraging advanced techniques in wooden construction pioneered by Obara Corporation, the building stands as a testament to architectural innovation and embodies environmental stewardship. By actively incorporating timber into its structural elements, nonowa Kunitachi SOUTH contributes to CO2 sequestration, promotes the recycling of forest resources, and integrates seamlessly with the landscape of the National City.

In a unique collaboration, the key visual of nonowa Kunitachi SOUTH was crafted by Sozo Gakko, a design team comprising individuals with disabilities who express their creativity through illustration. The visual, featuring symbols synonymous with National City, encapsulates the spirit of connection, collaboration, and the creation of new value. This inclusive approach enriches the project and underscores the importance of diversity in artistic expression and community engagement.

Celebrating the Grand Opening

The grand opening of nonowa Kunitachi SOUTH includes the arrival of “Kuni-Nyan,” the mascot of National City, a music festival showcasing local talents, and a market featuring environmentally conscious products. These events express gratitude to patrons and aim to foster a sense of belonging and vibrancy within the community.
